LAN/WAN Profiling
- What is it? Existing networks which have been in place for a while are in the main not monitored and so as natural organisational growth happens and new software applications are deployed, bottlenecks start to appear and user experience suffers. This is particularly true for multi-site networks who access centrally located resources. Increasing bandwidth is often the temporary workaround used but the problems which are causing the bottlenecks are not actually investigated and managed properly. Profiling the network allows professionals to record and study traffic trends and patterns and hence provides the knowledge and expert advice on how to control the traffic properly through your entire network so that informed decisions can be made on how to increase throughput and reduce latency.
- Who would use it? Any organisation that has a LAN or WAN for data and/or voice communication.
- What's involved? Analysis of your existing LAN and WAN connections over a two week period using a battery of specialist hardware and software to track your usage patterns; discussion and consultation with you on what your organisation needs to achieve in communication terms; review of the WAN hardware in place and any proposed future applications which will be introduced into the network.
